Joseph Goldstein Benefit
Author and meditation teacher, Joseph Goldstein, recently spoke to a nearly full house at the James A. Little Theater in Santa Fe, to benefit the Heart Mountain Prison Project. His topic was “Finding Compassion in the Face of Fear.” Other speakers at the event were board vice-president Eric Kolvig, director Doug Booth, and Stefan Laeng-Gilliatte who received the “Michael Hopp Excellence in Teaching” award.
A pre-talk dinner was well attended at the Cowgirl Hall of Fame restaurant in Santa Fe.
Many thanks to Joseph and our benefit staff!

Jimmy Santiago Baca Benefit
On November 7, 2004 award-winning "people’s poet" Jimmy Santiago Baca read from his works at a benefit for the Heart Mountain Prison Project. Members of Lumbre del Sol provided musical entertainment. Mr. Baca brought two of his poetry students to read with him, and the event was a great success — warm, passionate and inspiring.
Sylvia Boorstein Benefit
On November 2, 2003 Heart Mountain was honored to have best-selling author and meditation teacher Sylvia Boorstein speak at our annual benefit. She was joined by renowned Iraqi oud player Rahim Alhaj. It was a joy to see both of these wonderful and courageous individuals together. As Mr. Alhaj says, "Music joins people in their souls, and when this connection happens peace, love, and compassion can fill the hands of humanity."
