Douglas Booth, J.D.
Attorney and HMPP Director
Has taught meditation in New Mexico prisons for the past 5 years. He is a graduate of the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader teacher-training program. He is the former director of the Upaya Prison Project. He served as lead lobbyist for the New Mexico A.C.L.U. and practices law in Santa Fe.
Russell Brown, M.D.
Prison Psychiatrist
Russell has practiced psychiatry for 22 years in private practice, state and private hospital, community mental health centers and residential treatment centers for adults. Russell has served as Medical Director at Pinon Hills Hospital and Pinon Hills Residential Treatment Center, and as Regional Director of Psychiatry at Correctional Medical Services. He has been meditating daily for the past six years.
Michael Hopp
It is with great sadness that we report that Michael died accidentally on Christmas day, 2004. He taught yoga in the Santa Fe juvenile prison and at the Grants Meditation Unit. He was dearly loved by his students and by all of us at Heart Mountain. We miss you, Michael, and we promise to carry on your wonderful work.
Stefan Laeng-Gilliatt
Sensory Awareness Trainer
Born and raised in Switzerland. Trained in Gestalt Therapy, Sensory Awareness and Bioenergetics, and practicing meditation since 1983. Co-founder of Haus Tao Meditation Center in Wolfhalden, Switz. Teaching Sensory Awareness in the United States, Europe and Mexico since 1992. President, Sensory Awareness Foundation. Teaching meditation/stress reduction in prisons since November 2000.
Diana Lightmoon, M.A.
With two Masters degree in counseling, state licensing in Psychotherapy and Massage Therapy, certification as a Rosen Method Bodywork Practitioner, and ten years of Vipassana meditation practice, Diana brings a wealth of experience to the Heart Mountain programs. She has also been active in the Women's Movement and taught self-defense classes.
Caitlin McHugh, M.A.
A resident of Santa Fe for the past 21 years, Caitlin has been a teacher in the community for over 15 of those. Beginning her career as a secondary school mathematics instructor, she started teaching yoga in 1996. She is certified in the Iyengar system of Hatha yoga and has traveled to Pune, India to study with Geeta and Prashant Iyengar. Caitlin is a student of Vedanta, the ancient Indian philosophy of the Self, and is a practitioner of Vipassana meditation.
Joseph Salack, M.A.
Drug and Alcohol Counselor
Joseph has been with Heart Mountain Project since 2002 and is a student of meditation since 1985, primarily in the Vipassana tradition. He lived at the Lama Foundation for 2-1/2 years in the 1980s. He has been working as a psychotherapist since 1992 with many years in the field of addiction and recovery and has also worked on and off as a professional musician.
